Dr. Lisa Napolitano is board certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology and has over 20 years of clinical experience. She specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) with adults. A licensed psychologist in New York and Florida, she is the Founder and Director of CBT/DBT Associates, a boutique psychology practice in New York and Florida *specializing in evidence-based treatments for adults. Dr. Napolitano is a Fellow/Certified Trainer and Consultant of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, an honor bestowed on only 160 therapists worldwide for their expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine where she has taught CBT and DBT to psychiatry residents for 14 years.
Dr. Napolitano pursued a career in psychology after graduating from law school and working briefly as an attorney. Early in her psychology career, she gravitated towards dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and other mindfulness-based treatments. These approaches squared nicely with her own mindfulness practice and study of Buddhism.
Dr. Napolitano is an expert in the treatment of emotion regulation, stress, anxiety, worry, and impulse control problems. She has specifically designed her treatment approach and DBT program for executives, attorneys, and other high functioning individuals to help them manage stress and optimize their potential.
Dr. Napolitano graduated from Barnard College with an A.B. in political economy and earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at Fordham University. Previously, she served as the Chair of the International Training Committee of the International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy and as Director of CBT Training in China for the Beijing Suicide Prevention Project. She is a Founding Fellow and Past Membership Chair of the NYC-CBT. Prior to entering the field of psychology, she graduated cum laude from the Cardozo School of Law. She completed the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Business Program in 2016 and has been a member of Entrepreneurs Organization sine 2017. She is the Founder and CEO of Zen Behavioral, a consulting firm. She is currently writing a book on the challenges of finding happiness in a materialistic world.
