Therapy Approach

Dr. Napolitano harnesses the power of evidence-based treatments to help clients reach their goals and change their lives so that they are more rewarding and fulfilling. She uses cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches to help clients change patterns in thinking, behavior, and emotional responding that are causing them distress. Her therapy approach is collaborative and active. Sessions are structured and an agenda is collaboratively set. Dr. Napolitano teaches clients new skills in each session and homework is assigned to ensure practice with the skills. Progress over the course of treatment is assessed with objective criteria, as well as client’s subjective experience. As a mindfulness and zen skills teacher, Dr. Napolitano can help clients find quick and easy ways to incorporate mindfulness practice into their daily lives to decrease stress and increase enjoyment of life.
